Curriculum

The curriculum used is Christian oriented and designed to be challenging so as to provide the basic academic and intellectual habits and skills required for success in secondary school, college and life.

 

   

 

     

 

 

  • Kindergarten through 5th grade uses the A-Beka curriculum which historically has produced excellent results with its strong phonics base. ACSI Math and ACSI Bible curriculum.

 

  • The Middle School uses a wide variety of hard and soft covered texts for our academic classes including A-Beka and Prentice Hall Literature/Grammar/Spelling, Bob Jones Social Studies, Bob Jones and Prentice Hall Science, Prentice Hall Math, and ACSI Bible.

 

  • The Senior High uses a variety of texts for both our Honors, regular, and AP classes including Bob Jones Literature/Grammar, Sadler Vocabulary, Bob Jones Social Studies, Bob Jones and Prentice Hall Science, Prentice Hall AP Chemistry, Thomson, Brooks, and Cole AP Environmental Science, Prentice Hall Math, McGraw-Hill AP Music Theory, "Survey of the OT and NT", and Colson's "How Now Shall We Live?".

 

  • Beginning in the 3rd grade and through the high school, novels and novellas (click for list) are introduced into the Language Arts curriculum.

 

  • Participation into our summer reading program is required for every student entering 1st through the high school.

 

  • The Academy is on a seven-hour day schedule from 8:00am to 3:00pm.

 

  • Elementary students have a daily visit to a special class like P.E., computer, art, music, or library.

 

  • Junior high students are also exposed daily to the previous classes plus intro to foreign languages.

 

  • Scheduling for high school core classes and electives is done in August, prior to the start of school. Twenty-four credits are required for graduation.

 

 

Village Christian Academy is committed to the furtherance of the Fine Arts, the Sports Program and Extra-curricular activities. The Academy offers Band, Chorus, Piano Keyboarding, Suzuki Violin, Ballet, Student Council, various clubs, Forensics, Yearbook, Journalism, Upward-Basketball and Cheerleading for the elementary, JV sports, and 12 Varsity Sports including Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Swimming, Tennis, Cheerleading, Boys and Girls Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Golf.
