Welcome Fifth Grade Families!
We are thrilled to be blessed by God with the opportunity
of providing a Christ-centered education for your child! In knowing
how precious your child is, we ask you to lift us up in prayer so God
can teach us how to minister to each student spiritually,
academically, physically, and socially.
Our goal for our students is academic success, but more
importantly, we pray that ever student will commit ever aspect of
their daily lives to our Heavenly Father. “And we know that in all
things God works together for the good of those who love Him, who have
been called according to his purpose.”. (Romans 8:28) This scripture
supports our yearly goals for the students to mature in their walk
with Jesus Christ.
As they grow in the Lord, They will also be challenged
academically with the ABEKA curriculum. In Bible, the curriculum is
three-fold. It included an overview of the Old Testament, a detailed
study of various Bible characters, and a study of the choices the
characters made (good and bad). The Bible curriculum will challenge
students to contemplate their own decision making in their everyday
lives.
“The consistence of mathematical truths demonstrates the
orderliness, precision, and consistency of God.”. Saxon Math places
emphasis on the basics and continual review. The student must have
mastery in multiplication facts to develop abstract multi-step problem
solving.
“God has written history, it is HIS STORY!” The History
and Bible curriculum are tied closely together. We will study the
Eastern Hemisphere, ancient civilization, and geography. There will
also be a study of lands, animals, people, and cultures of the world
as seen in the Christian perspective.
God gave us language so we could learn to improve our
reading, listening, and communicating skills. We plan to use a variety
of resources to teach God’s gift of language.
Spelling is to effectively convey our message using
writing and pronunciation. The ABEKA curriculum promotes independent
growth for your child with guidance from the teacher. The student will
learn that one must spell correctly to effectively write the message
of God.
Our goal in science is to demonstrate that it supports the
truth of the Bible. They will learn to see science as God’s creation.
Reading is of special importance to believers. God want us
to read and understand His message to us. His desire is for us to grow
in knowledge and understanding of life.
We are extremely excited about teaching the fifth grade
curriculum! We look forward to this year!
In
Him,
The
Fifth Grade Team
